Me and My Violin (Student Blogger: Katherine)

Hi!  Have I seen you here before?  I think you are familiar.  Oh yeah, I know you are my friends in first grade, second grade, and third grade which I do not kno, but I can still be your friend.  I'm so, so, so glad to see you.  Listen up!  I need to tell you something.  I am going to talk about me and my violin.  When I was three years old, I loved classical music. My favorite composers were Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Bach.  My first violin came from Dolina, my cousin in Canada.  It makes beautiful sounds especially when the song is in a minor key. That makes it sound like a sad song, but the good thing is I like to play for people and practice a lot and it makes me happy.  My violin is made out of wood.  It is carved and the bow is too, but there is horse hair on it.  I hope you like listening to my latest song!  The End!

Power Rangers and More (Student Blogger: Michael)

Hi! My name is Michael and I am going to tell you about some of the things I love. I love super heroes. I love Spiderman, Ironman, and Power Rangers.

Power Rangers are cool. They protect people. A Power Ranger can fight back evil. A Power Ranger Time Force can have two swords and a Power Ranger Time Force can have a gun too. The Red Power Ranger Jungle Fairy has red nunchucks. I like Power Ranger shows and the songs. I play them on my iPod Nano and can do some of the moves.

Thank you for reading my blog post about Power Rangers.

Nature at Disneyland (Student Blogger: Katherine)

Oh!  Hello!  I didn't know you were there.  I am going to tell you about my Disneyland trip.  My favorite ride is Splash Mountain because I get to hear my favorite song, Zipadi-do-da!  I like all the nice animal characters.  The mean characters are a wolf, a bear, and two vultures.  Even though I like the characters and rides, I really like the nature at Disneyland.  I have seen a Hawaiian flower,

hummingbirds, ducklings,

coniferous trees,

rosemary bushes, a white plant called Dusty Miller,

an earthworm,

a racoon, lizards, and butterflies.  I even got to plant something with Tinkerbell.

I bet you didn't think there is so much nature at Disneyland.  I bet you didn't know you are nature, too!

It is fun being a Daisy! (Student Blogger: Ainsley)

My name is Ainsley. I am a Daisy in Girl Scouts. It is fun being a Daisy. You get to do cool things like go on field trips and meet other Girls Scouts. Being a Daisy is fun!

Some Things Are Scary

Last week, we read the book Some Things Are Scary by Florence Parry Heide, which gave us a bunch of ideas for scary things to write about, like grabbing someone's hand and realizing that it doesn't belong to your mom or dad or stepping on something squishy with your bare feet! Today, during Writer's Workshop we wrote our own stories in our notebooks about a time when we felt scared! I picked a few to publish on our class blog. :)

One time my mom asked my brother to feed my dog. He was not there! So we had to drive around the neighborhood and some boys had my dog. And the little boy said “Yay, we got a new dog!” We asked for him back nicely and they said yes. The END.
By Milo

One day I went on a walk with my dog. And Pasha stopped. I looked and I saw a snake! I ran as fast as I could.
By AJ

Once I was walking my grandma’s dog, Amigo. Then Amigo stopped at a field. I wondered what was in the field. It was a RABBIT BONE! I was so scared that I told him to drop the bone and he did, so we never saw that rabbit bone again.
By Emma

One time I got stuck up in a tree. And then I tried to get down. It was too scary. Then my dad helped me get down from the tree!
By Rohin

Thank you for reading! Leave a comment for our first grade authors! What did you think of their stories? Can you tell us about a time when you felt scared?
