Our First Week!

Wow! What a busy first week of school! Here's what we were up to...

We learned a lot! -Jaykob

We learned about black bears. -Aaqil

We practiced adding with dice. -Juan Carlos

We learned what coniferous means. -Isandro

We learned what stamina means. -Kyara


We learned that a zoologist is a scientist who studies animals. -Parker

We wrote about imaginary classrooms. -Anahi


We listened to the book Bears and Their Cubs. -Jade

We read the book You're Finally Here and we colored and painted maps. -Indigo

We started a book about a pig called Mercy Watson to the Rescue. -Tianna

We read a book called Interrupting Chicken and we learned that there are lots of different things you can write, like poems and texts. -Tanaya


We learned some chants. -Allyson

We learned what a habitat is. -Nya

We played "Mystery Number." -Cooper

We did the world map. -Alex

We learned about the continents. -Lorenzo

We sang "Is This a Mammal?" -Deniz

We read just the A in A is for America and we played "Silent Partners" during math. -Ryan

If we show respect, make good decisions, or solve problems on the carpet, we can get awards. -Kendall

We play beautiful quiet music when we are writing. -Carol and Damion



We read the book Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker. -Fabiana

We did chants. I like the mammals one. -Jules

Miss Kloczko showed us her shoes during Reader's Workshop. -Lea

We did "5678" and "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Like to Move It" during Star in Motion. -Liam

Mrs. V came and taught us Spanish. -Alex

We got points on our team. -Jared

We talked about all the reasons why reading is awesome, I learned a bunch about my new first graders, and I loved seeing them work together in teams AND independently! -Miss Kloczko

  5. Love to see our kiddos hard at work and having fun at the same time. And Allyson LOVES the chants and hand motions! One of the many things she wants to be is a cheerleader so it's right up her alley!

    I really think you're new 1st graders loved adding with dice. I enjoyed that when I was in 1st grade.
    You're students seem to enjoy 1st grade. Are you're students are gonna start A is for America? Remember that?
